Scholarships

Vancouver Tap Dance Society recognizes that there is a need to provide bursary funding for students who may have a financial need. VanTap has established a Bursary Award Fund (for academy fees) and Jeni Legon Scholarship Fund (for tap festival tuition fees). Applicants are assessed based on a combination of financial need and demonstrated dedication to tap dance training.

POLICY – BURSARY AWARDS

Each year the Vancouver Tap Dance Society offers full and partial bursary to offset fees in a performance or recreational program. The criteria for a bursary are as follows:

  1. There is a financial need.
  2. The student is committed to the program and will attend classes on a regular basis.
  3. The Program Director, Executive Director or Senior Administrator recommends that the student be ratified by the Board.

The bursary only covers class fees and does not include the costs of costume rental/fees, festival fees, or any other cost incurred by enrollment in any of the Society’s tap dance programs.

POLICY – JENI LEGON SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A maximum of two VanTap members (current students) will be allocated a scholarship to attend the Society’s annual Festival. This scholarship will be presented at the society’s year end show in June.
