The future of a beloved art form is in the safe hands and award-winning feet of local youth. TapCo is a youth performance ensemble that stages show-stopping performances and in-demand classes to hundreds of enthusiastic young people every year at schools, Children’s Festivals and other venues. TapCo has performed to over 100,000 youth in elementary schools across the Lower Mainland and B.C., offering young audiences diverse dance exposure and a taste of the rich history of the art form. Elementary school performances can be booked through ArtStarts, a premiere arts program for young audiences in Western Canada.
In our 45-minute show, “Just In Time,” this talented ensemble of dancers, ages 12 to 17, pay tribute to the masters of tap and presenting cutting-edge rhythm tap. Audiences delight in classic routines such as “The Hoofers Line” and Dr. Harold Cromer’s “Opus One”, as well as work by international artists commissioned by the Vancouver Tap Dance Society, ranging from traditional to smooth flash, funk and swing. At your request, our 45-minute show is followed by a tap class for 30-35 students–we bring the shoes!
A visit to the comfy VanTap studio is always special when TapCo is in the house, working up a sweat. It is immediately obvious that the commitment and dedication are non-stop. The young talented members of the troupe consider themselves to be like family and a very privileged one at that.

We have had TapCo at our school three times over the last number of years and every time they put on a high energy and highly engaging show. It has been a pleasure to host such an entertaining group who demonstrates that young performers can be true professionals.
